THE HISTORIC JUPITER ISLAND CLUB is a community that values heritage and tradition. Working within this context, Historical Concepts refashioned a 1920s cottage into a whimsical, yet sophisticated tropical retreat. Focusing on reversing later additions that were unsympathetic to the home’s original character and returning the cottage to its architectural roots, the design recalls the vintage glamour of early twentieth century Florida estates. A distinctive gambrel roof accommodates an upper floor addition that respects the home’s jewel box scale and intimate proportions. Tucked beneath the roofline, a new master suite and adjacent roof deck now overlook Hobe Sound. Intricate details adorn the exterior, from the entry porch inspired by the chinoiserie of the community’s social club, to the trellis which allows native vines to soften the rear façade.
