Doors Around the World

Traveler: Amy Agne
Destination: United States, England, Scotland, and Italy

Collecting photographs of doors is an ongoing project for Amy. There are no specific criteria, it is simply whatever captures her eye as she travels to different places. Color, material, transom lite patterns, and surrounding flora are all architectural details that stick out to her.

Doors are the first point of contact with space, marking the transition between the outside world and a new experience. Whether grand or worn, they symbolize new beginnings, opportunities, and stories waiting to be discovered. Over the years, my travels have led me to collect photographs of doors from around the world, each one reflecting the unique charm and character of its city. From the colorful and inviting doors of England and Scotland to the rustic, weathered ones in Venice and South Boston, and the majestic entrances like Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome, every door tells its own tale—of time, use, and the lives that have passed through it.
