Senior Associate

Camden McClelland was hooked on architecture the moment he heard it defined as “a profession in which science and art come together.” His interest in traditional architecture was solidified in college while studying the drawings of ancient buildings. He graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 2009 and worked for several firms in Washington State and Washington, D.C. before moving to Atlanta to join Historical Concepts in 2012.

Promoted to Partner in 2025, Camden is a trusted mentor and steady design team leader, known for guiding colleagues through the creative process while fostering a collaborative studio culture. He particularly enjoys the personal connections he builds with clients and contractors and says his favorite aspects of the design process are “working out the symmetries and axes in a plan.” He appreciates that some of the earliest design decisions, like those concerning massing or program, can influence the smallest details, like the curve of a molding or the shape of a handrail, or vice versa. Camden, who is from the Pacific Northwest, can always be found with a hot cup of coffee within arm’s reach and believes fall is the best season, offering the perfect weather for sketching.
