Nayun Hong, RA

Nayun Hong describes her path to architecture as “fortuitous”. Growing up in denser urban neighborhoods in Seoul, South Korea, and Honolulu, Hawaii, she was always interested in the built environment and the roles of buildings and infrastructure in activating public spaces. However, she wasn’t fully aware of that interest and its professional opportunities until she arrived at the University of Notre Dame where she discovered a program perfectly suited to her interests in placemaking. After receiving her Bachelor of Architecture from Notre Dame, Nayun joined the firm in 2022. She enjoys the opportunity to design at all scales through the firm’s wide range of projects, from studying the relationship between cabinetry and trim details to imagining the interstitial space between buildings as a new plaza. Nayun was a recipient of the Benton Family Foundation Scholarship for the 2023 ICAA Christopher H. Browne Drawing Tour, which was held in Venice. Outside of the office, Nayun enjoys solo traveling, playing the oboe with a local orchestra, and exploring Atlanta’s many neighborhoods on bike. She considers herself an amateur and experimental home chef, trying everything from her grandma’s Korean dishes to viral Internet recipes.
