Chioma Oparaji

Chioma Oparaji joined Historical Concepts’ Atlanta office in 2025. Her passion for architecture was solidified through formative experiences, including a study abroad program exploring Chilean architecture and a summer architecture program in her hometown of Houston, Texas. These opportunities deepened her interest in how architecture reflects and connects communities through the cultural influences that shape the built environment, says Chioma, “I just loved that architecture offered me the possibility to create places based in tradition and serving people through design.”

Chioma earned her degree from the University of Notre Dame’s School of Architecture, where she was awarded the Alpha Rho Chi Medal for leadership and service and received a Silver Award at the Nanovic Undergraduate Research Conference for her presentation, “Practice and Reason: Understanding the Relationship between Byzantine Mosaics and Architectural Designs.” She was drawn to Historical Concepts for the firm’s commitment to timeless, context-driven design, as well as its supportive studio culture grounded in collaboration and authenticity. Outside the studio, Chioma enjoys running—having completed a 13K along the historic Via Appia in Rome—along with baking bread and building furniture.
